We welcome Kirk Curnutt to The NewSouth Bookstore for a program we’re calling “10 Things Alabamians Should Know About Zora Neale Hurston.” Join the chair of Troy University's English department for a countdown of the Top 10 Alabama-adjacent facts every literature lover should know about Zora Neale Hurston (1891—1960). You probably know ZNH as the author of Their Eyes Were Watching God (1937), but there's a lot more to this multidimensional writer, folklorist, journalist, and anthropologist — including her deep ties to our very own state. Dr. Curnutt’s scholarship in the area guarantees his will be a rich and illuminating talk.
