The NewSouth Bookstore is pleased to be the on-site retailer at the Civil Rights Memorial Center In Montgomery for a special event open to the public featuring Kwame Alexander. Alexander is a poet, educator, and award-winning children’s book author with thirty-seven published books to his name, including — new — An American Story, which he’ll be discussing when he’s in Montgomery. An American Story tells the story of American slavery through the voice of a teacher struggling to help her students understand its horrific history. The book — “powerful,” “beautifully crafted” — has earned more starred reviews than we can count.
