As the celebration of our 75th year comes to a close, Resurrection Catholic Missions of the South, Inc. will next month host a rousing event centered around the intersection of race and the Catholic faith in 21st Century America.
On Friday, June 14, 2019, Resurrection will host Two Priests and A Professor: A Discussion on Racism and the Catholic Church at the Alabama Shakespeare Festival Octagon Theatre. The symposium will feature priest and James and Nancy Buckman Professor of Theological and Social Ethics at Fordham University Rev. Bryan Massingale, S.T.D.; former director of the Institute for Black Catholic Studies and author of a soon to be published biography of Servant of God Sister Thea Bowman, FSPA, Rev. Maurice Nutt, CsSR, D.Min.; and Auburn University professor Ernest Gibson, III, Ph.D. with the Honorable Vanzetta Penn McPherson, J.D. serving as moderator.
This intimate, yet honest conversation is one you definitely don't want to miss. Th is event is free and open to the public, but seating is limited.
Ahead of the symposium, a reception and book signings will start promptly at 5:30 p.m.
