MONTGOMERY, AL — A delegation from Montgomery recently is attending Main Street Now 2025 National Conference in Philadelphia, where they joined more than a thousand downtown and community development professionals from across the country.

Representing the City’s Department of Economic & Community Development were Lois Cortell, Senior Development Manager, and Ivan Holloway, Planner. They were joined by Ken Ward, board member of Main Street Montgomery. The team participated in workshops and sessions covering a wide range of topics, including historic preservation, placemaking, small business support, and equitable downtown revitalization strategies.

“Our team had a great experience and is bringing back new strategies and tools we can use to strengthen downtown Montgomery and build a more vibrant, inclusive city,” said Cortell.

The conference, hosted by Main Street America, is the nation’s premier resource for downtown revitalization and neighborhood development. Learn more about the event at mainstreet.org.
