MONTGOMERY, AL – The Montgomery Area Chamber of Commerce has named Caleb Goodwyn Chief Officer Economic Development. In the role, Goodwyn will lead one of Alabama’s top-performing economic development organizations, representing a public/private partnership committed to driving economic growth in the capital city and central Alabama region.

“From recruiting and expanding industry in advanced manufacturing, logistics, corporate, technology, and defense, to creating talent strategies and transformative infrastructure, the Montgomery Regional Chamber, alongside our public and private partners, is building a foundation for long-term competitiveness and growth,” said Anna Buckalew, Chamber President and CEO. “We have an incredibly strong team and proven track record in economic development. Caleb is the right fit to take our program to a new level of success and innovation,” said Buckalew.

The top economic development position at the Montgomery Chamber stands on a legacy of leadership, following the decades-long direction of Ellen McNair, who was named Alabama Secretary of Commerce in 2023 by Governor Kay Ivey. “Montgomery is blessed with strong elected leadership, a commitment to partnership, and a unified approach around economic and strategic development,” said Buckalew.

“As the capital city with an impactful national defense footprint, Montgomery’s success is vital to our entire state. The outstanding reputation of the Chamber’s economic development team and its work is known around the southeast, and it is a tremendous honor to join this organization,” said Goodwyn. “Central Alabama is poised for transformational growth, and I look forward to working with an exceptional team and trusted partners to create jobs, investment, and build on the momentum already underway,” said Goodwyn.

Goodwyn previously served in various economic development capacities with PowerSouth Energy, where he led infrastructure development, project locations and expansions, site readiness, economic development finance structures, and community development initiatives. Prior to his tenure with PowerSouth, Goodwyn worked in constituent and community affairs for Congressman Spencer Bachus in the Birmingham metro area. “Goodwyn’s background in both the public and utility sectors is the perfect foundation of experience to strengthen the Chamber’s role as a trusted partner to business, government, industry, and the community,” said Buckalew.
