She visits with her extraordinary new biography on Audre Lorde, iconic poet/writer and teacher, feminist and activist, titled Survival Is a Promise: The Eternal Life of Audre Lord. In the book, Gumbs probes how Lorde’s life was animated by awareness of her place in the cosmos and a desire to be one with the earth in her life, writing, and politics.
